Job Purpose: The Protection Assistant will be part of a community center team based in Haliliye (Şanlıurfa, Turkey). Under the supervision of the Program Officer, the assistant will provide tailored services to the refugee community, undertake outreach and household visits. S/he will be working in Concern community center and will play a key role in organizing and facilitating community based protection activities based on the activities’ requirements.

 

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct identification, assessment and registration of vulnerable cases based on the criteria set;
  • Prepare intervention plans for cases following detailed assessment;
  • Provide case follow-up until cases can responsibly and appropriately be closed;
  • Support the program officer in updating information on services available and protection actors;
  • Regular reporting on challenges and updates on the field regarding programme implementation and beneficiaries;
  • Conduct household assessments;
  • Supporting in implementing activities on mental Health and Psychosocial Support (PSS) services information dissemination and referrals;
  • Working on protection assessments, identification of persons with specific needs, referrals, case processing, and provision of assistance through a special needs fund (SNF); 
  • Conducting rapid needs’ assessments as required;
  • Identify the most vulnerable program participants by making home visits and outreach activities.

 

Beneficiary Accountability

  • Work with relevant colleagues to ensure that the Complaints and Response Mechanism (CRM) is functional and accessible, that feedback and complaints are welcomed and addressed;
  • Work with relevant colleagues to ensure that information about CRM, safeguarding and expected staff behaviour is disseminated among programme participants and communities;
  • Actively promote meaningful community participation and consultation at all stages of the project cycle (planning, implementation, M&E);
  • Any other tasks agreed with the management.

 

Required Qualifications, Education & Experience

  • University degree with at least 2 year experience in a similar position.
  • High school diploma with at least 3 years experience in a similar position, or a university degree with 2 year experience in similar fields
  • Strong command of spoken Arabic and Turkish/English is essential

  • Experience implementing protection and education sector activities in Turkey
  • Good organisation and reporting skills
  • To adhere to the standards of conduct outlined in the Programme Participant Protection Policy and Concern Code of Conduct
  • Ability to deal with sensitive cases
  • Strong communication skills
  • Readiness to travel to other districts, on daily basis sometimes if needed, to implement the project
  • Positive attitude and flexibility, team player, and willingness to learn
